The Office of
the Provost and Chief Academic Officer (OPCAO) provides administrative
oversight for the schools, colleges, and academic support
resources of Howard University. The Provost's network includes
Howard's 12 schools and colleges, all academic research and
resource centers, the student affairs division, and the Offices
of Research Administration, Information Systems and Services,
Enrollment Management, and Financial Aid.
The University's Strategic Framework for Action
anchors all major activities implemented and supported by
the OPCAO. The focal areas of SFA II include
- strengthening academic programs and services;
- promoting excellence in teaching and research;
- increasing private support; and
- enhancing national and community service.
The OPCAO has established the following targets
of opportunity for institutional achievement in alignment
with SFA II:
- Increased access to and utilization of
technology for students and faculty

- Expanded linkages and partnerships to encompass
local, national and international initiatives

- Acceleration of Howard University's research

- Establishment and funding of multiple
endowed chairs to recognize renowned scholars, researchers
and leaders
