PSYC 205. Research Methods. 3 crs. General survey of research methods in psychology, including experimental design in such specific areas as perception, learning, and motivation.

PSYC 206. History and Systems. 3 crs. Treats the development of psychology from philosophy and physiology and major systems and their influence.

PSYC 207. Statistics I. 3 crs. Presents research designs and associated statistics, including survey research, independent and correlated sample designs, nonparametric designs, analysis of variance (single factor and factorial designs), and introduction to factor analysis.

PSYC 208. Statistics II. 3 crs. Explores set theory, probability, statistical decision theory; major sampling distributions, Chi-square, F, normal distribution; and factorial design, correlation, and regression analyses. Prereq.: PSYC 207.

PSYC 209. Multivariate Techniques. 3 crs. Introduces multivariate analysis, theory and applications, multivariate multiple regression, multivariate analysis of variance, factor analysis, and discriminant analysis. Computer uses will be stressed. Prereq.: PSYC 208.

PSYC 210. Problems in Professional Psychology. 3 crs. Deals with roles, functions, and organizations of psychologists; the teaching of psychology; curricula; professional and research ethics; social and legal controls; evaluation; and public policy.

PSYC 211. Brain and Behavior. 3 crs. Analyzes neural correlates of behavior, with emphasis on investigation of brain-behavior relationships.

PSYC 214. Human Learning and Memory. 3 crs. Examines facts, concepts, and theories from laboratory studies of human learning and memory.

PSYC 220. Psychopathology. 3 crs. Covers individual and group pathology and treatment, with emphasis on social systems and their role in behavior disorder.

PSYC 221. Social Psychological Theory. 3 crs. Survey of major theories in social psychology.

PSYC 222. Social Psychology of the Individual. 3 crs. Analyzes social influences on individual behavior, including concepts of motivation, personality, and attitude.

PSYC 223. Personality Theory I. 3 crs. Studies Classic and Contemporary Versions of Psychoanalytic Theories. Major theorists to be included are Freud, Jung, Adler, Sullivan, Horney, Erikson, and other ego psychologists.

PSYC 224. Personality Methods. 3 crs. Examines methodology used in personality research, with emphasis on integration of theory, concepts, and methods. Original piece of research will be planned. Prereq.: PSYC 223.

PSYC 225. Cognitive Developmental I. 3 crs. Provides students with a methodological and theoretical background in cognitive development.

PSYC 226. The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations. 3 crs. Examines research and theory on interpersonal relations.

PSYC 227. Research Methods in Social Psychology. 3 crs. Presents methodological approaches and problems in social psychology; experimental and quasi-experimental design; survey research; and cross-cultural research. Prereq.: PSYC 221.

PSYC 228. Personality and Social Developmental. 3 crs. Introduces students to an empirical and theoretical background in personality and social development, with emphasis on infant social development, dependency, achievement, aggression, sex typing, and moral behavior.

PSYC 229. Learning. 3 crs. Surveys major topics in conditioning, with emphasis on animal learning.

PSYC 230. Seminar in Social Psychology. 3 crs. Special topics in social psychology.

PSYC 231. Cognitive Processes. 3 crs. Study of verbal learning, language, imagery, memory, thought, and information processing.

PSYC 232. Perception. 3 crs. Analysis of the visual perception system and presentation of the standard perceptual procedures, paradigms, and results, within the context of the nature-nurture issue. Topics included are: psychophysics, classical theories, color vision, and space perception.

PSYC 233. Neuropsychology. 3 crs. Study of the neural mechanisms underlying human behavior.

PSYC 234. Psychology of Adulthood and Aging. 3 crs. Study of psychological changes that occur from adulthood through the period of old age.

PSYC 235. Topics in Developmental Psychology. 3 crs. Current issues in developmental psychology are presented in seminar format to advanced Ph.D. candidates. The course is designed to re-expose the doctoral student to major topics in the field prior to taking an academic position.
