EDUC 261. Mental Retardation. 3 crs. Analyzes the nature and needs of various types and degrees of mental retardation. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 263. Curriculum for the Mentally Retarded. 3 crs. Presents methods and materials geared toward meeting the educational needs of the mentally retarded. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 264. Behavior Management of Exceptional Children. 3 crs. Study of selected types of behavior management techniques employed in the regular or special classroom, and of effective methods supported by research in the field. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 265. Teaching Exceptional Children. 3 crs. Discusses principles and strategies in developing appropriate educational programming for exceptional children. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 266. Psychology of Exceptional Children. 3 crs. Treats theories and research regarding the psychosocial characteristics of exceptional children. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 267. Diagnosis and Evaluation of Exceptional Children. 3 crs. Involves measurement and evaluation for diagnosis, assessment, and prescriptive recommendations for exceptional children. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 268. Diagnosis and Assessment of Preschool Children. 3 crs. Presents techniques for assessing young children in perceptual-motor, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development. Prereq.: EDUC 260 and EDUC 267.

EDUC 271. Methods and Strategies for Teaching Children with Learning Disabilities and Behavior Problems. 3 crs. Discusses specific approaches to teaching children with learning disabilities and behavior problems.

EDUC 279. Teaching the Profoundly and Multiply Handicapped. 3 crs. Provides experiences and develops skills useful in teaching profoundly and multiply handicapped students. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 285. Diagnosis and Evaluation of Specific Learning Disabilities. 3 crs. The study and application of techniques for diagnosis learning disabilities.

EDUC 360. Practicum in Special Education. 6 crs. Field placement in a special education setting; minimum of 300 clock hours required. Prereq.: permission of instructor.

EDUC 361. Problems in the Education of the Mentally Retarded. 3 crs. Study of relevant educational, psychological, sociological, and medical research in programming for the retarded. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 362. Problems and Issues in Special Education. 3 crs. Presents crucial issues, problems, and solutions relevant to educating exceptional children. Prereq.: EDUC 260.

EDUC 363. Seminar I: Gifted, Mentally Retarded, Learning Disabled. 3 crs. Designed for students with a need for intensive study of these exceptionalities. Prereq.: Permission of instructor.

EDUC 364. Seminar II: Disadvantaged Socially and Emotionally Disturbed. 3 crs. Presents the educational problems that these exceptional groups experience. Prereq.: Permission of instructor.

EDUC 365. Seminar III. Specific Sensory-Handicapping Conditions. 3 crs. Intensive study and specialization in the areas of blindness, deafness, and the multihandicapped. Prereq.: Permission of instructor.
