BSOT-201. Introduction to Old Testament I. 3 crs. Study of the history, literature, and religion of approximately the first half of the Old Testament, with special emphasis on the black presence in the Bible and the relevance of the biblical witness for the present. 

BSOT-202. Introduction to Old Testament II. 3 crs. Continuation of BSOT-201.  

BSOT-221. Hebrew Language and Grammar I. 3 crs. Treats the essentials of Hebrew grammar and syntax.  

BSOT-222. Hebrew Language and Grammar II. 3 crs. Continuation of BSOT-221. Prereq.: BSOT-221.  

BSOT-225. Helpmates, Handmaids, Harlots, and Heroines: Women of the Old Testament. 3 crs. Familiarizes the students with the principal women of the Old Testament and the research in feminist biblical studies on these women to discern how the stories of these women connect with contemporary issues in the lives of men and women; and to consider how to teach and preach the messages coming from these stories in the church today.

BSOT-305. Exegetical Studies in Deuteronomy. 3 crs. Detailed exegetical study of one of the most influential books in the Old Testament and one of the most frequently cited in the New Testament.  

BSOT-308. Exegetical Preaching from I & II Samuel. 3 crs.  

BSOT-309-01. Exegetical Preaching from I & II Kings. 3 crs. An exegesis of the theology of the book and its relevance for preaching.  

BSOT-310. Exegetical Studies in Job. 3 crs.  

BSOT-320. Exegetical Studies in the Psalms. 3 crs.  

BSOT-321. Intermediate Hebrew. 3 crs.  

BSOT-325. Exegetical Studies in Isaiah. 3 crs.  

BSOT-330. Exegetical Studies in Jeremiah. 3 crs.  

BSOT-335. Exegetical Preaching from Exodus. 3 crs.  

BSOT-340. Exegetical Studies in Genesis. 3 crs.  

BSOT-342. Exegetical Preaching-Psalms. 3 crs.  

BSOT-345. Exegetical Preaching from Ezekiel. 3 crs.  

BSOT-400. Directed Research in Old Testament. (Master’s Level). 3 crs.    

BSOT-410. Special Studies in the Old Testament. 2 crs. A seminar in which students research topics of special interest to them.  

BSOT-415. Advanced Hebrew. 3 crs.  

BSOT-500. Directed Study in Old Testament (Doctoral level). 3 crs.  

BSOT-510. The Minor Prophets. 3 crs. Addresses what each minor prophet preached and the overall message of each of the minor prophets' books. Students will discern how these themes apply today and consider how to communicate the truths found in the minor prophets books.
