PHED 037. Restrictive Activity II. 1 cr.

PHED 039. Badminton II. 1 cr. This course is designed to build upon the basic fundamental skills of the game. It provides opportunity for skill refinement, analyzation and competitive preparation.

PHED 041. Sport Parachuting. 1 cr. Prerequisite: PHED 034

PHED 043. Athletic Coaching II. 3 crs.

PHED 045. Horseback Riding I. 1 cr. An introductory and/or intermediate course in (English Style) equitation (art of riding). The student will learn horsemanship, what to expect from his or her horse; the gaits and aids; safety; theory; grooming; and stable management.

PHED 046. Horseback Riding II. 1 cr.

PHED 050. Methods of Teaching Team Sports I. 1 cr. Designed for major students to teach methods and techniques of team sports.

PHED 051. Methods of Teaching Team Sports II. 1 cr. Designed for major students to teach methods and techniques of team sports.

PHED 052. Methods of Teaching Individual Sports. 1 cr. This class is designed to prepare the student to teach individual sports. The student will learn various means of organizing a class for particular sports, developing teaching procedures, analyzing movement patterns and evaluating student performance.

PHED 053. Methods of Teaching Individual Sports II. 1 cr. Designed for major students to teach methods and techniques of individual sports.

PHED 054. Flag Football and Field Hockey. 1 cr. An introductory course to present as many of the facets of the game as possible; rules, fundamental skills, and strategy.

PHED 055. Fitness I. 1 cr. This course is designed to develop a thorough knowledge of fitness which includes measurements and evaluation of one’s present state of physical fitness, variables affecting physical fitness and plan and follow a lifelong individualized program. 

PHED-056. Fitness II. 1 cr.

PHED 057. Aerobic Dance Fitness. 1 cr. Works on flexibility, strength, but mainly on the cardiovascular system. Knowledge about health and fitness given.

PHED 102. Human Anatomy (Majors only). 3 crs. Concerns the fundamental understanding of the body’s basic anatomical functions and structure. 

PHED 103. Human Physiology. 3 crs. Designed for major students, the course is concerned with the fundamental understanding of the body’s basic physiologic mechanism. 

PHED 104. Kinesiology. 3 crs. Teaches fundamental principles, mechanics, balance, and muscular action that are basic to the analysis of movement, sports, and individual activities. Prerequisites: PHED 102 and PHED 103.

PHED 105. Nerve and Muscle Physiology. 3 crs. Further study into the anatomical structure and function of nerves and their relationship to muscles.

PHED 106. History and Philosophy of Physical Education and Sports. 3 crs. Presents the history and development of a philosophy of physical education through the examination and analysis of aims, objectives, and principles.

PHED 107. Exercise Physiology. 3 crs. Outlines the physiological bases of physical recreation and the place of exercise in the development of strength, speed, skill, and endurance. Prerequisites: PHED 102, PHED 103, and PHED 104.

PHED 108. Human Anatomy Laboratory. 3 crs. Designed to give the student an opportunity to work in the laboratory to study prosected cadavers, models and illustrative charts. Permission needed for enrollment. See instructor.

PHED 109. Methods and Directive Teaching in Physical Education. 3 crs. Designed for students who are interested in teaching secondary physical education. This course will assist the beginning teacher to improve teaching methodology and techniques in various activities. Emphasis is also placed upon curriculum content, construction of daily lesson plans and course objectives based upon a systematic approach to learning.

PHED 111. Motor Learning and Skill Performance. 3 crs. Teaches fundamentals and principles of movement methods and motor skills.

PHED 112. First Aid & CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). 1 cr. The general purpose of the first aid training provided by the content of the Standard First Aid course and the CPR course is to teach the knowledge and skills that are needed for the emergency care of the injured until a physician arrives and to create an active interest in the prevention of accidents through the elimination of their causes.

PHED 113. Adaptive Physical Education. 3 crs. Acquaints students with organization and development of programs for the atypical student.

PHED 116. Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. 3 crs. Studies the prevention and correction of accidents in athletic activities and the use of proper personal and field equipment, support methods, conditioning exercises, medical examinations, and therapeutic aids.
